Some photos from yesterday...

Before the storm, from my window

The clouds slope really oddly, don't you think so?

Trying to capture the dynamics of the cloud formation...

It's starting to rain in the distance already

Migratory birds. I really should have those big-ass cameras. What a pity!

Coloured version...

The recent lack of updates ominously signals the end of a 3 year affair. Hiaz.

I am keep my fingers crossed for some good news in the coming weeks. Other than that, life is two parts hectic, one part fun and many parts terrible.

Some much needed sleep is required before I go back to the site, again.

Love Actually

A couple of years late, but I can finally say I have caught the show.

Back to fiddling with the new phone. What's new in life that is all about work?

Oh yeah, before I forget, Happy Valentine's Day to all.

***

Wondering if I should make the big shift soon...?

***

I'd spent the better part of the night painstakingly keying in my old phonebook into the v3 contact by contact. Tedious yes, extremely so in fact, but in the process I too realised how some of the people that used to be so important in my life, frankly, don't matter anymore-so much so that I can just delete them.

Halfway through only, about a dozen contacts have been deleted already. It's frightening how easily one can pick and choose friends these days. I wonder if out there somewhere, someone is deleting my name.

Will stop here for the night. I am dead tired already. Hopefully by tomorrow, I can get the phonebook settled.

Pathetic, really.

Have you ever seen pathetic people before?

I saw one today. And after seeing how much of a man this fat, balding idiot is, I wonder if he has a family, has a wife, sons and daughters to go home to.

Then I found myself amused at the prospect of his family seeing him at work, seeing him at his worst, seeing how he crumbles and panic all because big brother is watching.

Surely, the defense of the nation cannot be entrusted to such whimps?

I am no better, but at least I treat other people nicely.

Completed several of the errands I set out to do today, which is most welcoming, since these tasks have been hanging around the back of my head for considerable time already. And all of a sudden, I look ahead and find no plans for the day.

With that kind of time, I finished my book, paced around the house, flipped on the television, tuned into the broadcasts yet nothing seems to hold my attention for more than a couple of minutes. Has to be one of those days huh?

My parents have gone out, vanished and disappeared for hours and I have no inkling on where they have gone or what they are up to. I don't have the heart, more likely it's motivation though, to torture myself with a run in such searing heat. Oh man..what am I suppose to do?

Darn.

Crazy Crazy Crazy

My Starhub mobile phone contract expired a couple of days ago and I thought this weekend would be a good time to, you know, look around for a better plan and phone.

So after some research, I settled on a pretty neat phone Motorola Razr V3, that will set me back by $118-$168 and a plan which gives me free incoming calls 24/7, 100 free outgoing minutes, 500 sms and also free Caller ID-all for $19.90. The problem is, the entire Singapore population thought this weekend would be a good time to, you know, look around for a better plan and phone.

Factor in the string of Valentine's Day 2-for-1 promotions, double the number of crazy people wanting to buy new phones and sign up new contracts, you get a queue that snakes around the shop a couple of times like the Hongbao Toto draw and a waiting time of more than one hour.

I was sufficiently turned off to postpone my signning of a new contact and buying of a new phone to another more apt timing.

...I'm just a kid, wanting something nice for the new year...

Fiction

I was hoping that the little rectangle box flashing blue will pop out on the taskbar. So much so that I couldn't bear the wait, put on the busy sign and left the room.

Before it did, I was really hoping it would. My wish came true but somehow I rather it not.

"Thanks for your concern and friendship," what more is there left to say, think and dream?

Nabei...Damn bored leh.

Karma

The nap after lunch took me all the way to 4 pm when my cousin came over for tuition.

My brain was almost fried by Secondary 3 Additional Mathematics, Chemistry and Phyiscs. Haha! And before my aunt left, she gave me a red packet for my effort which I refused.

Good deeds do not require any form of payment.

Saturday is leaving me.

Milling about

I celebrate the passing of a hectic week. Work has been a drawn out affair, often lasting 10 to 13 hours per day filled with incessant calling and messaging and pathetically little time to eat.

I haven't started any practical driving lessons since getting my PDL license two weeks ago. I haven't renewed my mobile phone plan (though I plan to do it today with my Dad since he is the one getting the coporate discounts). I haven't gotten my university forms done. I haven't gone out on a photography outing (alas! my buddy is out of the country) for two months? I haven't...haven't...haven't (cleared IPPT as well. ARGH!).

But what I have done...hurling towards the end of it all at blinding speed. So, don't stop me now.

Hmmm, I passed a wishlist of games to my friend who is leaving the country today for a short trip. Hopefully he brings back lots of presents for me!!! Haha.

***

The air is especially fresh and crisp today. It might be, that the air has nothing to do with it at all. Probably because I am breathing it on a lovely Saturday morning from home. I woke up, had breakfast, read the papers and now I am writing to a James Blunt song.

It doesn't get better than this because I'm now going to sprawl on the bed and read my book with a glass of water by my side. That should keep me occupied until lunch.

Cya around!

Got shit at work...Pissed off at how unreasonable people can get sometimes.

And my phone bill is at an all time high of $69 of which less than 1% is due to personal use. Fuck man.

***

For the longest of time, I have been wanting to catch 'Before Sunset'. And it just so happened that it was on HBO today.

Never have I seen a show so simple, so elegant and so captivating. Two persons and an hour long conversation of love found and love lost...very very nice.

It makes you believe in fairytales.

Sian / Tired

Hmm. Seems like I have little time for myself.

Hopefully the next few days I can get my ass home before dark to settle some outstanding matters.

Night.

CNY Party!!!

CNY party...

Yu Sheng, my second this year!

NEW YEAR FURY! My friend says we look like we are stabbing someone/something. Haha..=)

Have been taking more and more snapshots recently...

***

I believe the passing of my Grandma late last year have brought the family closer. Close enough to have the first ever extended family CNY party at my place. There was the customary gambling of mahjong and cards, lo-hei-ing, feasting and catching up.

Somehow, despite it being the most ideal CNY I have ever envision to have, with loud brash conversations, hollering and merry-making, I strangely was a bystander to this all. Weird huh? But I'm contented and satisfied and tomorrow, even though it will be a sucky day with work and crap, my friend is coming over! Seems like the festivities ain't ending so quickly after all!

I occupied myself talking to my cousin who is now in Secondary 3-have been ages since I was at that age. Anyway, I realised how fortunate I am from her. Then again...hiaz. Anyway she is a very earnest, hardworking young girl so I sincerely hope the best for her this year. Good luck!

Though the crowd is thining...there are still quite a number of people around here. So I will leave this post just like that. Bye!

272

New retro chairs! They are red in colour by the way. Shocking red...

***
Was doing some of my writing just now. It isn't done yet. There is still some tweaking, polishing and reviewing but at least the frame is up. Hopefully this business will be done by tonight or latest Friday.

I'm pondering whether to go for the run tomorrow. Hehe.

And 272 isn't just any-oh-how random number. Bah! I shan't go into that now but let's hope that the GE is in March! Voting dudes means public holiday. LOL. Political apathy in Singapore has reached a new high if that's what we all care about, though you can't believe anyone for not being interested in a foregone conclusion.

Oh that in itself is politically apathetic! Haha!

Jumpy

Not sure why, but I'm feeling a bit fidgety and jumpy today which shouldn't be the case because I have only one important thing to accomplish today. Hopefully that will go on smoothly.

But I do have many many other stuff not within my control. Hiaz..=S. Maybe that's why.

And the weekend is almost over. =(.

Yummy dinner =)!

Dinner at Curry Favor, Stamford House

Mooncafe, where we had our meal!

Tastful decor...

Woke up after a 3 hour nap to have dinner with the guys. I guess Chingay parades still keep the larger part of the population spellbounded because the train into town was packed to the brim. Nothing much happened though on the train, a fat woman was swinging her fat ass around like a dangerous weapon and keep try to shove it into my book. I gave up reading after a few pages and concentrated instead on what I would have said to her, if I had the guts to do it...Haha.

Anyhow, we got to Curry Favor (you can google the restuarant) at 7 PM and already it was full. So we had no choice but to go to its sister cafe, Mooncafe, just next door to be served. I would say the place had a lonely frontage, one of those that reminded me of those little shops along the streets of London...The ambience was good as well, just that it was a bit dark for photography as candles were the main source of light. We all had starters (miso soup or salad) and curries for the main course. Food wise, I thought my Beef Stewed Curry was fantastic! Especially the beef that was so tender and juicy...almost prefect I would say if not for the plain presentation.

Service was good and for once I don't have any issues with paying the 10% service charge because we were served and our food came very promptly. And ah the waitresses were cute if that means anything to you. Haha. One thing though, they were overenthusiastic about clearing the plates.

Definitely interested in going there for their lunch specials which is HALF the price of the dinners! But on the way to Plaza Singapura, I already spotted Timber, a pretty neat place tucked away near the old National Library which would probably be the next restuarant I wanna try!

We actually wanted to catch Memoirs of the Geisha after dinner but the screening timings at PS was insane. So instead of watching the show, we went over to Paradiz instead for a session of LAN that lasted for 2-3 hours and made all of us miss the last train.

I caught 174M home but now am wondering as to where are the others too. Hahaha...!

Friday, February 03, 2006

Had a great rest last night after slogging for 3 days and 2 nights while most of my friends were still enjoying their extended CNY holidays. Hmmm.

Met the guys for soccer again earlier in the morning and then we had lunch at Bukit Timah Food Centre before going home. Seems like everyone is rather carefree these days...just waiting for the day to ORD.

I was actually marvelling at how quickly time has past. I'm a J4 already! It seemed like ages to go from J1 to J2 but after that, the world sped up. J1, J2, J3, J4....Time past as fast as I counted the years.
